Behind the Scenes,
Beside the Artist.
Pursuing a career in the performing arts requires the effort of a community. étude works with up-and-coming performing artists by offering financial, administrative, and artistic support to help them bring their original ideas to life.

étude believes that art belongs to everyone. Programming in the étude company actively transforms the performing arts industry for a new generation of creatives. This is a generation that creates space and opportunity for artists to grow and learn without the precedent of formal education, professional experience, or predetermined financial stability. In an imbalanced cultural structure, where artists are often asked and expected to give their services for little to no cost, étude actively works against a system of working in exchange for experience. We seek to provide the artistic community with an opportunity for employment and 100% compensation for their time.
When the arts operate in capitalism we are left to justify and sacrifice artistic vision in support of financial reimbursement and investment of the work on a larger scale. étude refuses to let artists sacrifice their vision by creating a safe process-over-performance structure for them to play, experiment, and fail without sacrificing their livelihood along the way. We at étude believe this is the only way true, honest, and powerful art can be made.
étude began with one mission, to create a stronger community for independent performers and creators. étude believes there are better and more sustainable practices to uplift and invigorate a new generation of artists. The solution is a company, built by and for, project-based performing artists ready to pursue professional careers in the field.

étude is dedicated to creating the performing arts industry we envision for our future and the generations that follow us. Through active support in all areas of production, we are building a community of performing artists who enjoy the chance to realistically pursue their passion. This supportive structure and the establishment of sustainable revenue for the company and the artists we work with will result in a project-based industry that operates from abundance rather than scarcity.
Ultimately, building this culture of creative abundance within the walls of our own physical brick-and-mortar theatre and rehearsal space will break down the largest financial and logistical barrier creatives face in the fabrication of their work. With a space that cradles and provides the ground for our mission while also acting as the primary source of revenue for the business, we can create a self-sustaining system that will allow us to create the change we believe is necessary for our industry.
The Problem?
There are currently no resource centers or established community programming to support up-and-coming performing artists or the industry professionals employed by them.
The Solution?
We create a stronger community for independent performers and creators. The solution is a company, built by and for, project-based performing artists ready to pursue professional careers in the field.
Your Art. Our Mission.
Our Creator Collective also known as our Production Programming is at the heart of what we do. We guide and support local performers with original ideas in producing their own unique events. These productions offer employment in the field, opportunities for self-expression, valuable work experience, and chances to fail and grow in a professional environment. Through our Creator Collective, we have a variety of options for sponsorship, mentorship, and support to Explore, Elevate, & Execute the creation process.
How Do We Do It?
But none of it would be possible without our community.
Our programming extends beyond the creation of art and into the crucial work of building a strong community inspired to pursue their passions, wherever they may lead. This supportive structure and the establishment of sustainable revenue for the company and the artists we work with will result in a project-based industry that operates from abundance rather than scarcity.
Our community programming initiatives include the following:
