Sled Season

étude x Toboggan Man

February 7, 2026 | The Tangent Gallery

Each year, in collaboration with the local band Toboggan Man, étude puts on an epic winter rock festival called Sled Season that brings together the Detroit Indie Music scene, highlights local vendors, and shows off artists across many genres.  In alignment with étude’s nonprofit programming, the proceeds of Sled Season are used to fairly reimburse all artists involved.

Sled Season 2026 saw an exciting lineup of classes and workshops, an interactive art installation, live performances, local artisanal & food vendors, and, back by popular demand, our themed photoshoot experience by Lady Red Photos. This one-day winter festival was an incredible celebration of art, music, and community. After two successful runs, we were so excited to bring this event to the legendary Tangent Gallery & Hastings Ballroom in Detroit.

An electric duo infusing their love for stadium level rock ballads with underground indie rock and 90s hip-hop from their childhoods to create wall shaking lullabies they believe will inspire the future. Realizing people are lost and in search of an answer, CHECKER believes it can provide it in the form of Rock n Roll.

Brain-child of front man Geo, étude & Toboggan Man have partnered together every year to make this dream – a one of a kind indie rock winter music festival – a reality.

Toboggan Man
mixes classic sounds of surf-rock and early rock-and-roll, the band continues to produce music and collaborate with local artists, known best for their high-energy live sets.

Lee Cleaveland & The Lefthand Band is an upbeat, fun, and energetic indie rock band from Detroit, MI. Born missing his left hand below the elbow, Lee uses a small thumb at the end of his stump as a guitar pick. When he’s not playing guitar, this rock n roll cyborg wears a state of the art mind controlled bionic hand which the band flaunts in the comical music video for their blistering garage rock anthem “Cyborg Man”, off of their 2022 debut LP “Tech Support”.

This 6 piece, high energy act wields guitars, keys, saxophone, bass and drums in their quest to blend garage rock, surf pop, alt-country, punk, and more into an eclectic yet cohesive signature sound.

ty can be best described as garage egg punk, an internet-based micro-genre of punk rock that emerged during the 2010s. ty is a high energy experimental punk group ready to tear the house down as one of our headliners for SLED SEASON 2026.
