fragments in order
Lena Granger
May 4, 2024 | Andy Art Center
fragments in order (2024) presents three original works created by Lena Granger. Choreographed during three distinct time periods over the last eight years, these works serve as a physical archive that preserve the feelings and experiences of the choreographer and performers during each time of creation. When presented chronologically, the audience is invited to witness the evolution of an artist and individual through the personal stories shared. While unique conceptually, each work sits within the commonality of exploring what it looks like to wrestle within and through a difficult state of being; eventually reaching a hopeful and liberated reality.
Singular Resemblance: Planes of Being
Do you ever glimpse another plane of being encroaching upon your own; the moments of a past self rushing upon your senses, with all their insecurities, fears, hopes, and former plans? In a momentary equal juxtaposition, you experience all at once, a rising confluence of immense loss, hope, joy, and pain. On the cusp of that wave is a clarity with which you look through time at who you once were and may be. Here it is that you find yourself: approaching regret and possibility as equals, inciting both to guide you forward.
